Moviehole meldet... Seems Sylvester Stallone doesn’t just have one more Rambo movie left in him - he has two. We were informed this morning that Millennium/Nu-Image wants two more jaunts out of the scarred Vietnam Vet.
The aging action-hero has already written "Rambo 5" - rumoured to be shooting next year in Bulgaria, though set in the United States - and is about to put pen to paper on a sixth installment of the series. Also, the next two films won’t be War films like the original movies (actually, I wouldn’t call "First Blood" a War movie - that was just a good-time thriller) but just straight-up action thrillers. The bandana may make reappearance yet.
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter states that Stallone, who helmed last year’s "Rambo", will also direct "Rambo 5". [...]

AICN meldet... [...] don’t know if you watched Leno last night, but he had Sylvester Stallone on to push the RAMBO DVD release. Sly announced during the interview that later on (hopefully this year but he didn’t give a time-frame) he will release a "Director’s Cut" of the film, and give it the original title JOHN RAMBO. [...]

Moviehole meldet... A couple of months back "Rambo" producer Harvey Weinstein mentioned he'd love to do a fifth installment in which the iconic character returns home to America (the ending of the latest film seems to set that up). But when news came through last week that the fifth "Rambo" movie - seemingly on the fast track - would film in Bulgaria, most of us assumed that the plan of having Rambo on home soil had been abandoned for yet another away-from-home War tale. Seems not.
A reliable contact for Moviehole, 'KC', informed us today that the next "Rambo" film will indeed be set in America - it's just more cost-effective to do it in Bulgaria.
Says our scooper, "The street sets of Bulgaria that are getting the makeover, the same ones that were rented out and used in Van Damme’s The Shepherd, will be doubling for Rambo’s hometown, which is supposed to somewhere in Arizona." [...]

Moviehole berichtet über "Rambo 5", der völlig anders werden soll... From the sounds of it, "Rambo 5" will be what "Rambo 4" should have been - a film dissimilar from the previous films in the franchise, and somewhat of a character journey (or, like the latest one, it could be simply 'the same old shit').
In an interview with Metro Magazine, Sly said he's already begun work on "Rambo 5".
"I would like to take Rambo to another genre, experiment a little with the character. It would definitely not be another warmovie, cuz I can't go any further with that than what I've already done. What it's going to be like I'm not going to reveal at this point. But I'm already halfway though writing the manuscript".

Hollywoodreporter.com berichtet über neue Filmprojekte, evtl. "Rambo 5" !?! When it comes to Sylvester Stallone's career, there ain't nothin' over till it's over.
The boxoffice comeback champ has just inked a lucrative deal to direct and star in two action films with his "Rambo" producers Danny Dimbort, Avi Lerner and Trevor Short of Nu Image/Millennium Films.
Stallone also will produce the films with Kevin King-Templeton and Lerner. Dimbort, Short and Boaz Davidson will serve as executive producers.
Several scripts are being considered for follow-ups to his surprise hit sequels to "First Blood" and "Rocky." With Nu Image/Millennium's new WGA interim deal speeding up the process, the first script is expected to be locked and loaded by the fall, with production set to begin shortly thereafter. [...]

Hollywoodreporter.com berichtet über die US-Einspielergebnisse... Lionsgate's "Rambo" proved neither dynamite nor dud during the weekend with an estimated $18.2 million opening, yet the Sylvester Stallone starrer lost the battle for the domestic boxoffice in an $18.7 million sneak attack by the Fox comedy "Meet the Spartans."
"Rambo," in which the Weinstein Co. holds 50% equity, performed roughly as expected. [...]
A reported $50 million production, "Rambo" was a negative pickup from Avi Lerner's Nu Image/Millennium.
The latest and mostly simply titled installment in Stallone's series about hard-bitten mercenary John Rambo -- which the topliner also directed -- drew audiences evenly split between patrons under 25 and those older. About 67% of the film's patrons were males.
"In addition to getting the older 'Rambo' fans, we were also able to attract a whole new generation of new 'Rambo' fans," Lionsgate distribution president Steve Rothenberg said.
Weinstein Co. co-topper Harvey Weinstein said the opening grosses for "Rambo" were solid enough to make him want to back another franchise entry.
"Whatever the domestic gross is -- let's say it's $50 million -- foreign (cume) will be $150 million," Weinstein said. "That's reason enough to show the demand is out there."
The best opening in the "Rambo" franchise was marked by 1985's "Rambo: First Blood Part II," which unspooled with $25.5 million on the way to a $150.4 million domestic tally. [...]

Bei B-D gibt es eine Kritik zu "John Rambo" (4/5)... [...] RAMBO is your run of the mill ‘80s action movie loaded with guns, explosions and great one-liners. Stallone gives John Rambo little dialogue and enough gusto to carry the movie with sheer facial intensity. Rambo is better than ever and fighting for only one reason... because it’s in his blood. [...]
RAMBO wasn’t made for you to think, it was made to blow YOU out of the water with insane action and violence.
Although most of the dialogue is laugh out loud funny, and the storyline completely ludicrous, RAMBO is pure adrenaline for your soul. Get ready for one of the most violent rides of your life and for a trip back to the ‘80s when films were made to be mindless fun. John Rambo is back and better than ever.

Im MTV Movies Blog beantwortet Stallone Fragen... MTV: [...] Where are you at with "Rambo" today? What remains to be done? What are the biggest challenges you’re finding in the editing room?
STALLONE: We are just finishing up post-production on the film, which will be released on January 25th. The biggest challenges I’ve had is finding the right balance between the true Burmese crisis - which has been on going on for 60 years, where rape, torture and murder are commonplace there - and creating an action film that gives vieweres what they want, without being preachy. USA Today zeigt ein neues Bild und meldet... [...] Rambo has spent the past two decades living in the region as a hermit, one who has shed patriotism, lost his faith and given up on humanity.
"He realizes his entire existence has been for naught," Stallone says. "Peace is an accident, war is natural. Old men start it, young men fight it, everybody in the middle dies, and nobody tells the truth. He says, 'You think God's going to make it all go away? What has he done and changed in the world? He has done nothing. We are an aggressive animal and will never be at peace.' That's how he feels." [...]
